This is my absolute favourite place to take children’s photography in Cheshire.
I discovered Abney Hall Park when I asked if anyone knew of any nice local parks on a Cheadle Mum’s Facebook group. Along with Tatton Park and Lyme Park, Abney Hall was one that kept being recommended. So I decided to go on over and take a look. I couldn’t believe that I’ve lived in this area for so many years and had driven past it many many times I had no idea that it existed. It’s such a magical place and I could instantly see that it would be a perfect location for family and children’s photography.
Not only is there a little waterfall, there are cows, ponds, a small cafe and Abney Hall House itself.
Whenever I take a booking for children’s photography I always try to encourage that we shoot it at Abney. I tell them to bring their wellies, some treats and prepare for lots of fun and a real traditional adventure exploring the park. I generally start off by taking the family to feed the ducks. They usually make the children laugh which helps them to relax and realise that this is going to actually be fun. Then we go off for a walk and I let the children decide which path they want to take this makes them feel very grown up and excited as to what’s around the corner. We climb, jump, sing and listen to all the different birds whilst I take the photographs.
Every child who I’ve photographed there just absolutely loves it and can’t wait to return.
